Hot engagement ring Trends for 2011

Choosing a diamond engagement ring can be a difficult decision. There are many factors that play into your decision making. What kind of diamond cut would you? What metal would you in the band? How many carats do you want? What is your total budget? These are basic questions you must ask yourself when buying an engagement ring, but what else should be considered?

You will also want to consider that this engagement ring will be a direct symbol of your relationship with your future spouse. It will will represent your love for each other and something you every day for the rest of your life as a statement of your eternal company wears. That being said, we have seen some pretty interesting trends emerge so far this year, and here are just a few of them.

Eternity rings -with the cost of precious metals to rise, that means that the price of engagement rings increases. To combat this inflation in price, many choose to go with much smaller stones set on one band, instead of one large diamond. Smaller diamonds are cheaper because they are more common.

Custom rings -surprisingly, this has only recently become a hot trend. You would think that most people have a unique engagement ring to symbolize their unique love for their significant other would like. Recently, more jewelers have made this a viable option for couples, as regards price point.

Alternative metal -again, with the price of precious metals seemingly going up and up without an end in sight, people are looking for alternative to the traditional metals. Traditional and more common, metals are gold and Platinum; However, we have seen an increase in metals such as titanium. Titanium is lightweight, similar to platinum, and is extremely durable.

Low profile rings -with our ever-increasingly busy lives, we have many more tasks to be processed on a daily basis, and many brides-to-be concerned about their rings get damaged due to high-profile settings (i.e. a solitaire ring which way up from the band). Many women are now opting for a much lower profile setting where the ring almost within the band itself. As a result, more flexibility and less wear on the ring in the long term.

Colored stones -color is still on the rise since its major "rush" in the early 2000 's (think Jennifer Lopez's Canary diamond engagement ring), and it does not seem to be going away any time soon. Brides everywhere trying to get a more modern, spicy twist on the old fashioned engagement rings.
