Pearls: Blissful creations of nature

Beads are one of the most beautiful and most fascinating gifts of nature to the human race. These are the hexagonal aragonite crystals made of calcium carbonate from the mussels, clams and oysters. Freshwater pearls are found in many parts of the world. Usually white or with a slight tint of pink shade, creamy cultured pearls can also be found in colors such as green, blue, yellow, black and Brown.

Pearls are considered as one of the most priced and very valuable Jewelry Accessories in the world. Under the expensive qualities of cultured pearls are the most expensive and rarest of them all, however, the black pearls. Fresh black pearls are very rare and, thus, are not readily available in the market.

Pearls are usually divided into two forms namely natural and cultured. While Natural cultured pearls form in natural conditions in the water, are the cultured freshwater pearls artificially propagated in Pearl farms. Natural pearls form mostly in two types of water sources, such as the seabed and inland water bodies. The pearls originated in the seabed are commonly known as salt water pearls water while those harvested from the waterway bodies are considered to be the fresh water pearls.

There are many different types of cultured pearls known for their respective functions and qualities. Here are some of the most popular and widely praised varieties of beads of water available in the market.

FRESH WATER PEARLS: freshwater pearls form in mussels that live in ponds and rivers. These beads are mainly found in North America, Japan, China and some parts of Europe. The quality of fresh water pearls is usually compared to that of the gemstones. These beads are usually white in color, but in some places that these can also be found in colors such as orange, purple, yellow and pink.

Akoya pearls: also known as the swallows Zamek or Akoya oyster, these beautiful pearls are found in Japan. The fall of the Akoyas in the category of salt water pearls that form in the smallest of all the Akoya oyster. However, the most original Akoyas are creamy white in color with a tinge of green or pink shade, but sometimes they can also be found in colors such as blue, silver, pink and yellow. These pearls are quite round and semi-baroque in shape.

South Sea pearls: these beads are mainly found in Australia near the Indian Ocean. The size of the Pearl can vary from 5 to 20 mm. these beads are very shiny with a satin smooth touch.
